What is this book about?

Al Schneider could have been the one. He used to drop by the house when her husband was out. Bill Burch had forged her check for $300. Max Johnson, Gud Barnhardt, Putt Perry, Jack Relof...they all figured too. Or at least Gus did until someone ran an automobile over his neck! She had an excitingly evil face, with eyelashes very dark above the open, rolled-up eyes. She looked as though she had fallen downstairs. But everyone knew that she hadn't busted her own pretty head wide open. Someone had killed her. And it had to be a guy!
