What is this book about?

Lloyd Carlyle’s last act was to be the biggest funeral ever put on by Hollywood. The widow’s clothes were especially designed (a nice combination of sex and sorrow), the limousines were ordered, the invitations issued. But there were a few dangling ends to be taken care of before the show. For instance: the brother of one of Lloyd’s ex-wives might threaten to produce his sister’s suicide note; Lloyd’s current mistress might make some nasty public cracks about the grieving widow; and the widow’s lover might be too stupid to stay where he belonged—about a thousand miles in the background. So the studio hired private eye Rick Holman. He was just supposed to smooth things over, keep everything tidy. He was never supposed to come up with MURDER.
